Only the third release of Petit Verdot from Raphael –
and clearly the best thus far. We decided early on to
produce special bottlings of this variety in only the
finest vintages. Petit Verdot is one of the oldest
varieties in Bordeaux and one of the last grape
varieties to ripen on Long Island. It is also
historically one of the most long-lived vines with some
plantings going back over 100 years. Our Petit Verdot
was made from 8-year vines. The 2005 vintage is dense,
rich, spicy and elegant with chewy tannin and hints of
violets and pepper exhibiting the extreme ripeness of
the 2005 vintage. Only 80 cases made of this very rare
and delicious wine.
